Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is one-to-one the right ratio for a student?

A: Excel Tutoring has individual learning areas, whereas the other tutoring companies offer one large open room with many tables. If you prefer fewer distractions for your child, we are the learning center for you. Importantly, a student does not have to compete for individual attention from their tutor.

Q: Are the tutoring sessions customized for students?

A: Yes. The tutoring sessions at Excel Tutoring are totally customized for each student. An assigned tutor will determine a student’s strengths and weaknesses as they work together, so the pace and focus of the tutoring program can be adjusted as needed. We pride ourselves on our ability to work with the whole student. This ability to customize allows us to tailor our program to the student's needs, rather than trying to fit the student's needs to a specific program.

Q: Does Excel Tutoring instruct students with special needs?

Yes. Excel Tutoring has compassionate and skilled certified special teachers on staff with many years of experience in the Special Education field.

Q: Why come to us over the competition?

A: National tutoring companies charge more or the same prices for one teacher tutoring 2-4 students at the same time. Excel Tutoring offers one-to-one undivided attention for less or approximately the same price. We are not a franchise.

Q: Is financing available?

A: Yes, Excel Tutoring offers student loan services. Please call the learning center at 203.270.8887 for information.

Q: When is the best time to enroll?

A: Whether a student is behind grade level or ahead of the class, time is of the utmost importance in helping a student improve. Our programs are year round, so you may enroll at any time. However, Excel Tutoring recommends enrollment before the next report card or when the student is struggling academically.
