Excel Tutoring, located in scenic downtown Newtown, Connecticut, provides One-to-One tutoring for all subjects, SAT/PSAT prep, homework assistance, study skills, test preparation, college essay writing assistance, academic coaching and enrichment programs for K-12 & college students. In order to provide the best possible learning environment for your child, we only offer a One-to-One student/tutor ratio.

Excel Tutoring founder and center director Pauline Crisci-Goncalves was an elementary school teacher who realized that a large percentage of students would benefit from one-to-one tutoring because state standards continually rise and teacher to student ratios are increasing. She believes that every child can succeed in school, given the proper support, encouragement and tools. At Excel Tutoring, a tutor's most important job is to observe how each student learns and to teach strategies for the student to learn more effectively.

At Excel Tutoring, the goal is to reach underachieving students as early as possible in order to teach effective and lifelong learning strategies and problem solving skills. Success sparks a cycle of confidence that will stay with a pupil for the rest of his or her life. Excel Tutoring also offers individualized academic enrichment for students who wish to be further challenged.

Tutoring rates are affordable and competitive with nationally recognized franchise organizations, even though Excel Tutoring uses a one-to-one student-teacher ratio. Rather than a long term agreement, Excel only requires a month-long agreement, with a minimum of four sessions per month (once per week). Download our brochure.
